Bay area resident wants KB Home to fix house (Tierra Del Sol – Land O Lakes, FL)
LAND O’ LAKES, Florida — A Land O’ Lakes homeowner said developer KB Home has been slow to make repairs to his home.
“It’s a health issue, and I have a 6-year-old and a wife and we sleep here,” said Ivan Benavidez.
He says six years after purchasing his home he is dealing with cracked stucco, leaky walls, damaged floors, and mold.
“When it rains, this puddles like a lake from here to where the piano is at,” he said.
Benavidez has meet with four KB Home inspectors who he said have recommend that the company come in and paint the outside wall to prevent more leaks, but he said more needs to be done.
“They walk around, they tell you this: ‘take it or leave it.’ No choice,” he said.
10 News contacted KB Home to find out what was being done to repair the problems.
The company released a statement that reads, “KB Home evaluates each individual homeowner request and the condition of the home to best determine whether and to what extent KB Home should perform repairs. Each situation is addressed individually to adequately determine the suitable resolution to the homeowner’s specific concerns.”
The company also said that it has been working with Benavidez and has scheduled an appointment with him again on August 12.
For more than a year, 10 News has been reporting on the problems at KB Home built Willowbrook subdivision in Lakewood Ranch, where homeowners say the developer has been slow to fix their homes.
Benavidez said he is hoping for a quick resolution for the sake of not just himself, but wife and son, too.
“They need to do what they need to do to make it right.”
